How do I know if my Council Tax band is wrong?

Compare your band (A–H) against similar neighbouring homes in your postcode. If comparable properties are in a lower band than yours, you may be over-banded. Our check does this comparison for you for £4.99.

Can challenging my Council Tax band backfire?

A review by the VOA could in principle move a band up as well as down, so it’s worth checking the neighbour evidence first. Our audit only recommends a challenge when the postcode evidence supports a reduction.

Can I get a refund on past overpayments?

Yes — a successful band reduction can be backdated, sometimes for many years, meaning a refund of Council Tax you overpaid plus a lower ongoing bill.
