Taxable Value

The value your tax is actually calculated on, after ratios, caps, and exemptions are applied.

Taxable value is what remains after your jurisdiction applies the assessment ratio, any assessment caps, and exemptions to your market value. Your tax bill is taxable value times the rate.

It’s worth checking each step: an appeal lowers market value, but confirming your exemptions and caps are correctly applied can cut taxable value further without any hearing at all.
