Tax Abatement
A temporary reduction or elimination of property taxes, often to encourage development or improvements.
A tax abatement temporarily lowers or eliminates property tax, frequently offered to encourage new construction, rehabilitation, or business investment in an area.
Abatements are separate from appeals: an appeal corrects an over-valuation, while an abatement is an incentive program you apply for. If you’ve made improvements, check whether a local abatement applies before your value climbs.
