Property Tax Protest
The Texas term for formally challenging your property’s assessed value.
In Texas, an appeal is called a “protest,” filed with your county appraisal district, usually by May 15. About 85% of Texas protests are resolved at an informal meeting before any formal hearing.
The process is the same in spirit as an appeal elsewhere: present comparable sales and evidence of any condition issues to argue for a lower value.
