Appraisal District (CAD)
In Texas, the county body that appraises all property for tax purposes — where you file your protest.
A County Appraisal District (CAD) is the Texas entity responsible for appraising every property in the county for tax purposes. Harris County’s is HCAD; Dallas County’s is DCAD.
You file your protest (Form 50-132) with the CAD, not the tax office. The CAD sets values; local taxing units (school districts, cities) set the rates applied to those values.
